membership

We welcome new members at FPC! While membership is not mandatory, it allows you to commit yourself publicly to serving Jesus and to experiencing the fullness of participation in his church. 

We offer new member classes as needed, led by our pastor. These are low-pressure conversations in which folks can learn more about the Christian faith as well as the history and mission of FPC. Following this, new members may join our congregation by baptism, a transfer letter from a previous church, or by reaffirmation of faith in Jesus Christ.

Acceptance into membership involves an affirmative answer to these questions:

• Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and pledge your allegiance to his Kingdom?
• Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner, having missed the mark and fallen short of the glory of God, and therefore wholly dependent on God’s grace for your salvation?
• Do you commit, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to living a life of righteousness and faithful obedience as befits the followers of Christ?
• Do you commit to participating actively and responsibly in the worship, fellowship, and mission of First Presbyterian Church, abiding by its government and discipline for the sake of our unity, purity, and peace?
