King of my life, I crown Thee now / Thine shall the glory be
Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow / Lead me to Calvary
Lest I forget Gethsemane / Lest I forget Thine agony
Lest I forget Thy love for me / Lead me to Calvary
We sang these words at the close of our worship service on April 10, as a reminder that the joy of Palm Sunday gives way to the sorrow of Holy Week. The same Jesus who is greeted with palms and fanfare goes on to die, "for us and for our salvation," as the Nicene Creed puts it.
For the first time in three years, we will gather together for a Maundy Thursday meal. Join us on April 14 at 6pm in the FPC Fellowship Hall, and bring a main dish, side, salad, or dessert to share (drinks will be provided). After we eat, we will remember Jesus' Last Supper by sharing in communion together. Then we will gather in the sanctuary for a worship service centered around the cross (beginning around 7:30pm). We will leave the service in darkness as a reminder of Jesus' entombment and descent to the dead. Then we will wait. Because the good news is, Sunday's coming.
Yours in Christ,
Blake
